Helping little ones build communication, connection and confidence through play

Is your child aged 2–3 years and finding communication, understanding, play or social interaction tricky?

Sign, Sense, Say is a small, supportive group designed to help young children develop their early communication skills through sensory-informed, fun and engaging activities.

Created by our experienced Occupational Therapists with expertise in Sensory Integration, alongside an Early Years Sensory and Multiple Needs Practitioner, the group brings together sensory play, movement, communication and interaction to support your child’s development in a way that feels natural and enjoyable.

Who is the group for?

Sign, Sense, Say may be suitable for children aged 2–3 who:

  • Are using fewer words than expected for their age

  • Find it difficult to understand or follow communication

  • Struggle with playing or interacting with others

  • Find it difficult to engage or maintain attention

  • Have sensory processing or regulation difficulties

  • Need support developing their confidence with communication and play

What will we do?

Each session uses play-based, sensory-informed activities to encourage communication, interaction and engagement.

We use a Total Communication approach, recognising that communication isn't just about spoken words. Children can communicate through gestures, signs, sounds, facial expressions, body language, pictures and words.

Our aim is to create a supportive environment where children can explore, connect, communicate and build confidence while parents and caregivers gain ideas they can continue using at home.

Every child develops differently, and sometimes it can be difficult to know what support your child may benefit from.

Sign, Sense, Say provides an opportunity to access early, supportive intervention in a small-group setting, while helping you better understand your child's communication, sensory and regulation needs.
